Maybe if these non-paddling events were more publicised to the community there would be a better turn-out as well as an opportunity to promote the club and get new members. I'm thinking even cross-over to other clubs and groups. That's one of the reasons that I created Connecticut Explorer's Guide - a way to link the entire adventure community. Cross-over in adventure sports happen all of the time. This is how I ended up mountain biking; my hiking friend was also a mountain bike racer and introduced me to the sport. Maybe there should be more of a coordinated effort for cross-over events among the clubs in CT.
