My Two Cents

While there are a few active members in Farfield County,
like Oliver, Sheldon, and Jean, the vast majority of
members are East of New Haven. This, when combined with
the lack of launch sites, few posted events, and I-95
traffic, all seem to work against us who paddle this area. There are a few great spots to paddle. The Norwalk Islands
are the most popular. The Housatonic is another great, yet
seldomnly paddled site. The eastern portion of the state
does offer many more paddling opportunities, launch sites,
and paddling conditions.I have also noticed another strange dynamic. I have met many
paddlers from Milford, Stratford, Fairfield, Westport and
Norwalk who are "Lone Paddlers". Some of these people, many
who have good skills and expensive boats, had no knowledge
of Connyak nor any interest in club type paddling. I'd love
to know if others have noticed this and what their thoughts are.A few suggestions:
Join Connyak and post a few paddles. The first paddle
I posted on the Connyak Events page was for the Norwalk
Islands and at least 20 paddlers showed up.Post a hookup paddle on this forum. There are others like
you sitting back waiting for some activity down here.Check out:

This is a great group of people with some interesting
paddle and social events.Happy Paddling,
Don
