In Response To: How come nothing in western CT til Aug? (Rob Di Stasio)

First off, the events calendar as noted has only been updated through June. What you are seeing beyond that is July-> 2006. There's a Hudson River paddle scheduled in July which will be a multiclub outing, and a Norwalk Islands paddlie in August.
There may be a number of reasons there seems to be an eastern orientation to the club: history, membership. Mostly I think it's Sound access. There are few state ramps in the western part of the state capable of accommodating a large group outing, and the towns restrict access, some year round, some during an ever-enlarging season.
All it takes for the club to have a paddle is for someone to post it. Don Margiano and I made an effort to sponsor more paddles out west a few years ago, and I ran a Norwalk Islands campout a couple of years running. If you have some ideas, join, post a paddle on the Bulletin Board, come to a club meeting and propose one for the calendar.
