: I use a medium sized fishing bobber (the one with the little spring plunger and hook)at the back of the glasses holding strap, i could at least see it when it was in the water.

Sounds like it would help out with your static brace as long as it was still on your head! "A little bit 'o bouyancy goes a long way!!"
