Notes from the meeting...

Date: Friday, 19 January 2007, at 9:37 a.m.
The 07 paddle schedule is complete and approved thanks to the work of Sheldon who not only insisted it be done for the first time but did it himself. It should be up on the web soon. We scheduled two weeks a month leaving room for spontaneous paddle listings.
Kate arrived.
We are trying to solidify a date with Karen Knight and will try to have it an open forum type of gathering where she would do a demo and afterwards everyone would paddle and try some of these things and have her there for some guidance. Rather than small group one-on-one type instruction. If there is interest, we would book her for a following day where paddlers could pay for more individualized instruction.
March 9th is the date for the annual photo show at the Essex meeting room. More info will be on the BB as we get it.
Scott Cunningham who runs a guide service and BCU instruction in Nova Scotia will give a slide show on paddling Nova Scotia in March. The location is being worked on.
We have a possible talk about a paddling expedition in Greece and some other paddling presentation stuff from Omer Singer who is connected to a guide and instructional service here: http://www.seakayak.co.il/index.htm
That would occur on February 21 or 22 with a possible location in North Haven.
Nick Shade will be doing a presentation on wood boat building and we will try to schedule and publicize that for April. This is a presentation that he is giving at other symposiums and we can take advantage of an entertaining evening even if you already are a builder. Date and location to be determined.
There was mention of a Cheri and Turner open forum day as well and we will look into that with them.
With enough lead time I will try to get these events that occur from March on into Atlantic Coastal Kayaker events listings. All these events take some scrambling for halls and details so keep your eye on the BB for information.
There will be no February meeting since we can handle any small business needs at the presentations.
ConnYak pool sessions are on-going in Wallingford. $15 for members.
