: I have looked at many YouTube postings of Eric Soares and the
: Tsunami Rangers and have always been awestruck. He will really
: be missed by the kayaking community.
: A minor correction to some of the statements crediting him being
: "the" pioneer of surf/rock gardening kayaks. He was a
: prominent member of a small group of early designers of such
: craft. Robert Livingston designed the Ursa Micro which morphed
: into the mariner Coaster, which Morphed into the recent designs
: by Brian Shultz (great for surfing, probably not strong enough
: for hard core rock gardening). Eric Soars mentions his first sea
: kayak as being built by Steve St. Claire, so that had to
: predated his own designs. I'm sure there are others the West
: Coast folks could add.
: The above is a minor point, he was a pioneer in developing and
: promoting paddling in extreme sea conditions, truly "one of
: a kind".
: To hear more about his remarkable contributions, spoken in his own
: modest voice, look up the interview with Simon Willis:
: web.me.com/simon.willis..../podcast/1/-Taunami Rangers.html (hope I
: got all that correct)
