We are 18 days into 2012 and I just realized I have not announced anything on ConnYak about YakJAM 5.0…

This year is a special one because it marks the fifth annual YakJAM and is the fifth year of SKG (founded on May 20, 2007). The Full Moon for August, 2012 is August 2, at 03:27 am. The rule for the YakJAM dates is “the first weekend in August closest to the full moon”, so it will be August 3, 4, and 5 (Friday to Sunday).

I hope to make this year’s YakJAM the most remember-able one ever. So, please, as with each year prior, spread the word to all the other Kayak meetups, clubs, organizations, outfitters, etc. I really hope to see ConnYak at the YakJam. The YakJam is all about kayakers sharing with each other. The experience and knowledge of ConnYak is unmatched in the state. We can use speakers on any kayak, environmental, camping, or other relevant topic. An advanced rescue demonstration is right down the ally for some of you (and we can attempt to be better organized this time).

The YakJam is a grassroots organized event… it is up to each of us to make it happen, and in the past you have and we did. So let’s do it again….
