His name is not familiar to me but the post included the following among a long list of accomplishments:

"....He was an avid kayaker, and founding member of Conyak,
leading weeklong wilderness trips through New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and
Maine. He loved downhill skiing and was a devout conservationist; committed
to preserving wilderness. He was an active member of AMC, American Rivers,
Connecticut Watershed Council, EarthJustice, Maine Island Trail Association,
National Parks Conservation Association, Ocean Conservancy, Sierra Club and
The Wilderness Society. "
