Profiles
Creating a profile is an option. Since our board is an open forum no one has to make a profile to post.

One good reason to create a profile is so that no one else can post and use your name. For example, if one creates a profile as 'Brian Cooper" then no one else can post using this name. However, they can use a name such as 'Brian" to post.

Some may wish to create a profile to let others know of their interests. Also, this is a non-intrusive way for a member to point to their business interests.

Creating a profile also gives you special "rights" for postings. For example, people with profiles can post classified or commercial ads that are posted immediately, i.e., there is no wait for a moderator to approve the posting. Other rights, such as the ability to upload pictures to postings, could also be given to registered users. However, there are other disadvantages to allowing users to post pictures directly. But it something that I am investigating. Some things can be done but the tradeoff is increased monitoring by the webmaster(s).
