If someone wants to post an "intro" paddle, by all means do it, we don't need to devote a level to what will rarely, if ever, occur. I'm all for helping new paddlers along, but this is a SEA KAYAKING club, people. We can't be everything to everybody. People will come to us when they have a little experience and want to start venturing out onto the ocean. Who is going to lead an "introduction to paddling" group around and INSTRUCT them on basic skills on an "official" ConnYak club paddle? This has come up before, and for all sorts of reasons, no one will. Let's focus on how to come across as more open and welcoming to people with a real interest in SEA KAYAKING, there are many other groups that can better serve the interests of the rest of the paddling community. In my view, we should be concentrating our "beginner" efforts on helping motivated paddlers make a smooth transition from recreational kayaker to sea kayaker.
