I agree that an "intro" paddle would be a great idea. The question the becomes, who leads an "Introduction". "Introduction" implies there will be someone there tasked with the job of introducing new paddlers to the "suggested" basics of paddling. It sounds like it is a class, not a paddle. A class needs an instructor.

A "trip" has other participants who may be willing to help people learn basics, but they are not instructors or leaders, they are just other club members who have a little bit more experience and chose to be helpful.
