: A coat of Clear-coat if it adheres will go a long way.

Clear coat seems to be an acrylic and only a latex will stick to the zinc but maybe over the latex? I was wondering about PolyGlo polyurethane insted of wax.

So I'm going to spray the zinc paint spots with a bit of white Krylon H20 latex.

THEN: what next? wax? polyurethane? clear coat?
