: I've always much preferred Calf Pasture mostly because the islands
: are right there, you can get right to it without having to deal
: with the slog out of the river. Calf Pasture makes for a shorter
: overall trip with more quality "Island Time". In the
: warmer months I'd rather head east anyway, but that's me. What
: say you, ConnYak paddlers? Calf Pasture or the Saugatuck River?
: Calf Pasture has to be early or late in the season. Saugatuck
: River, any time. Do you want a Norwalk Islands paddle at all?
: Our western members probably deserve a proper Club paddle, but
: people should actually want to go.
I tend to agree with you on this, Erik. I have paddled out of the Saugatuck launch under the bridge
and found it to be a long paddle before reaching anything resembling "interesting". That is why I don't
paddle out of Bluff Point either...slogs-ville both directions. As to the $5 parking fee - who cares? It seems
well worth it to me, maybe my car is safer there, and heck - I will skip a Starbucks coffee or two to make up for it.
I would think two paddles/season out of Calf Pasture to island hop (where we can actually LAND) would not be too many
for me. Just my $.02 worth..
