I used to keep my neck gasket an a short piece of 6" pvc pipe between paddles until it was more comfortable. Stretching stresses the gasket but one false nick if you trim the gasket and you will be heading for the dive shop and a new gasket (and they have larger sizes). And BTW they do stress not trimming the gasket while stretched.
