Re: Big Boat Little Boat
In Response To: Re: Big Boat Little Boat ()

I wish I could remember the details of this story, like the name of the Cruise Ship, where they were, the size of the wave, important things like that, but my coworker was on a cruise when a rogue wave hit. The boat tipped way over, and several people were injured, though not seriously.

I'll have to ask her about the specifics. I'm pretty sure they were in the Caribbean.

: Dave, you mean it's not a good "rough water boat".

: I am interested in boat design and now I'm curious if what you say
: is true. It's an interesting concept that perhaps these are more
: for coastal passages but going down to the islands, passing
: through the bermuda triangle is as open water as any ocean. I'm
: going to research it a bit. My assumption is that the hulls are
: as good as the old war-horse ocean liners especially with the
: sophisticated computer design of today. I'll let you know what I
: find out. I'm not being contrary but I just can't assume that
: anyone would build a cruise liner of this magnitude with out
: ocean capabilities beyond the ships of the past.
