I am familiar with this problem. Below is a picture of some silly fool trying to win a "Darwin" award a few decades ago. The photo was taken at the broken dam on the Salmon River. Note the broken paddle held together with tape and string, the lack of helmet or PFD, the cotton clothing in winter conditions (no leaves on trees). I'm glad I don't run into people like this anymore!
