Notes from the meeting

Winter Pool Sessions
We will have the Wallingford High School Pool for 3 weeks in both January and February. The club is paying for insurance which allows us access and the club will subsidise the fee so members will pay $15. for the 4 hr session. One week in Jan and Feb Chery & Turner have the pool and members will pay $20. (this has nothing to do with ConnYak other than C &T passing along a discount)

Jerry has winter sessions at the Avery Point pool in Groten and the club will contribute $5 for members so the sessions there will be $20.

Details on all of the times and dates will come.

We talked about bringing in instructiors for next year and the club will either subsidise the fee for members and/or pay for demonstrations for everyone.

We will try to have some talks or demonstrations during the year at our meetings to hopefully stimulate interest in attending as well as for information.

We may buy 50 of Eriks ConnYak Calendars and just sell them to those who want one. By buying more at once we save $$ and pass that along. This is all non profit for anyone.
Thanks again Erik.

We used up most of our allotted time in the room with some heated discussions about our finances. As you see from the BB, Jim the Treasurer does not want to continue with that next year. For those at the meeting, this was a decision that was made early last year. We will need a Treasurer for next year and Oliver suggested to me by email that perhaps we can break the chores of membership and treasurer into two people. We are going to send our basic books for some practical advice to a CPA. Since our club is not “non-profit” or “profit” we do have to decide how we are going to handle things financially without putting people at any risk or unnecessary exposure or unnecessary clerical duties for the few who actually volunteer to do things: or just fly under the radar.

We will try to allocate a meeting torwards the “Paddling Group Dynamics and the Common Adventure Model” which will bring in a lot of opinions.

If you’re interested in being the treasurer or perhaps handling membership, please contact Phil.
