My two cents. For winter I pack three sets of neoprene gloves. If you stop for lunch, your gloves may freeze. So the extra pair is helpful. The third pair is in case you lose a glove(s) while adusting something.
Other thing is air temp. If it is below freezing, many complications can arise. Best to wait unitl the air temp is more in the 40 degree range and up.
