I think you should buy whatever you want.

There are some very promising aspects with eVent. I try and keep an open mind with the suits and have discussed eVent with a friend considering buying a drysuit. The latex socks are a non starter for me. You like them-good for you. In the Winter, I put on thinsulate socks which fill my GoreTex socks and keep my feet toasty warm. I have gotten a new suit from Kotatat just looking for a few pin holes to be patched. I did not have leaks from delamanation but that is what replaced my suit. I would have been just fine with them fixing my suit. I like to get my suit checked before Winter and insure that it is intact. Very small leaks go un-noticed expecially sense most of us don't like to go swimming and soaking in Winter. Where sweat dampness ends and a leak begins is very hard to notice.
