rides ending on the beach...
In Response To: Re: surf video ()

: I got tired out just thinking about how many times he had to haul
: that boat off of the beach and start again. Waves that don't
: dump onto the sand are a very good thing, Steve.

You can control the boat better by only surfing the front half of it or so....keep the boat from your ass back out of the water and you have a LOT more control. Now you're surfing a 9 foot boat as opposed to an 18 foot boat AND none of it is getting caught up in the slower/oppositional water in front of the wave.

You may end up in a bongo if/when you get the whole boat in the water - the bow catches and perls and then as you ride that bongo, the ride may end in very shallow water. Try this - just move your brace forward amidships...by doing this you create more drag at the front of the boat and the stern swings down wave. NOW, your bow is pointed away from the beach and towards deeper water. Opposite happens if you move that brace back amidships...stern is dragged and bow turns down wave towards the beach.

I'm lazy - the more work the water does, the less I have to do! This can save you a lot of time/energy and makes your surf sessions a lot more fun!
