Nick, Jim, and I launched from SBA and headed to Napatree. On the way over the larger sets were rideable but not in the direction we were heading. The wind was strong, but building. Rode some into the wading pool on the backside and then went to look past the Molars. Nick described it as a washing machine. The wind had sets in one direction, the swells were coming in about 45 degrees off and the tide was running out. Pretty chaotic and nothing organized enough to ride.
There were some sets in the wading pool that became double amplitude where they joined and if you could catch one of those, they weren't bad.
Nick had to bug out early to head to Maine. Jim and I headed back a little later. The wind was continuing to build. It was a slog back to SBA. Jim was running a little east of me on a shallower ferry angle and ran into Kate and Tom - apparently headed to Fishers ?
Good day for sailing. Too much work for surfing. Earl was a little disappointing.
However, it was a GREAT day to be on the water - warm wind, warm water, no jellyfish !
