A few of us are heading out to Newport R.I. on Saturday 7/31 (launching from King's Beach fishing access, in the water at 10am). We'll be paddling along the shoreline and through the rock formations along Ocean Drive (where the mansions are). I've never been there, but from all accounts it's a really spectacular area. The original idea was to paddle with RICKA on Sunday, but the weather looks absolutely perfect on Saturday and potentially crappy on Sunday. The paddle is under 10 miles round trip, but with lots of playing around along the way. Helmets are recommended if you are going to paddle through the rocks (it is possible to go around them). It should be a top 10 trip. I haven't come up with directions yet, but it you look at the RICKA site, can see where it is and figure out how to get there. Yes, it's a long ride, but it'll be worth the trip. You can either come along or look at the pretty pictures afterwards and say: Man, that looks nice. I should have gone on that one. This one is for "intermediate paddlers" and up.
