Yes, I think we do need a calendar of paddles. There are are quite a few folks that only seem to show up at "official" paddles, plus I think some newer members are less inclined to show up at pickup paddles until they've gotten to know some of the "regulars" at the official paddles. Also, sometimes it's nice to know what you'll be doing on the weekend ahead of time, pickup paddles don't always materialize and not everyone is comfortable posting one. Posting pickup paddles doesn't always work out all that great unless you're one of the more familiar regulars anyway, people like to have some idea of who they'll be paddling with and what they're getting themselves into before they commit to going. If Jay posts a paddle, no problem. If Joe Newbie posts a paddle, unless someone commits to going on the bulletin board, he could very well end up paddling alone. That's not the way it ought to be, but that's the way it is. There really hasn't been much of an overwhelming turnout problem in recent years and there is nothing stopping people from posting alternate paddles on official paddle days if they want to paddle in smaller groups.
