Here is a little more info on the Tides & Currents talk at the Essex Town Hall this Friday eve titled:
"The ups-and-downs and ins-and-outs of tides."
This presentation will describe the fundamental aspects of:
1) Tide generation.
2) Tide components & prediction.
3) When/why predicted & actual tides often differ.
Some local case studies will be provided as examples (e.g., Quonny Pond/Breachway).
The talk will be given by Rob Pockalny who is a professor at the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography (URI GSO). The talk will be 45 to 60 minutes with time for questions afterward. Rob's bio can be found at:
