Re: Saturday Paddle: Ft. Wetherill, Jamestown R.I.

: We're launching at 10am from Fort Wetherill and going somewhere
: else.w We'll probably follow the shoreline out to Beavertail with
: a tour of Mackerel Cove on the way. Then, depending on group
: preference and conditions we can continue around to a pocket
: beach or maybe go a bit further down to a more sheltered lunch
: spot (and back). It's looking like a coolish, but beautiful
: Saturday with very little (and mostly blocked) wind from the
: north. There will, however, be some substantial swell from all
: the storms churning out in the Atlantic which should make for
: plenty of motion in the ocean. This won't likely be a day for
: exploring nooks and crannies, more likely a day to have fun
: bouncing along in the waves and enjoying the rocky scenery from
: a safe distance. I'll try to scout a couple of spots by car in
: the morning to check conditions. If plan A doesn't work out,
: we'll figure out something else, there are no crappy paddles out
: of Ft. Wetherill. If you are a novice or are uncomfortable
: paddling in waves, this trip is NOT for you. If you are a
: confident, experienced intermediate paddler with a taste for
: adventure who doesn't freak out when the water moves (and moves
: you), you'll do fine. You must be willing to maintain a certain
: level of group awareness - it's OK to do your own thing but, out
: here, we need to do our own things together. Plan on 10-14 miles
: or so, enjoying an exciting, but relaxing day on the water -
: we'll be taking our time, not racing to the finish line. A
: debriefing is customary. Any questions, email me. It would be
: helpful if you let me know you're coming.

I'm in, see you tomorrow.
