Description

Launch promptly at 10:00 AM from Ft Wetherill, Jamestown, RI. Stragglers will be left behind at the launch, as this paddle is tide-dependent. No exceptions. Paddle is listed as advanced due to Beavertail Point and distance.

Paddle is 20 miles with 2 stops, and no workable bailout points. This is a very scenic and fun paddle, and a few rules are needed to keep it that way:

Plan on 6 hours to complete, as the pace is geared towards endurance, not speed. We will be rounding Beavertail Point early, which is a moderate/high hazard area in a southerly swell - the group WILL stay together there.

Spare paddles, towlines, VHF radios, first aid kits, and plenty of water and food strongly recommended, as are lots of sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat.

But most of all, the goal is to have a fun day paddling a very pretty coastline.

Rain, predicted lightning, small craft advisories, high surf warnings, and seas in excess of 4 feet at the bay entrance cancel. Please check the ConnYak BBS Saturday night for status before going.
