August 23, 2008

In the water promptly at 10:00am
Ft. Wetherill, Jamestown, RI

Rating

Advanced / Intermediate

Description

20 statute mile circumnavigation of Conanicut Island (Jamestown).
2 Rest/food stops. We will be rounding Beavertail Point early in the paddle, which is well known for rough conditions and breaking waves. Rest of the day is intermediate skill level, provided you can do the distance. Plan on approximately 6 hours total time out from the launch.

Stragglers WILL be left behind at the launch, as this paddle is tide dependent.

Bring plenty of water. Spare paddle, VHF radio, and towlines strongly recommended. We've needed them all in the past on this paddle.

Predicted rain, lightning, small craft advisories, or seas 5 feet or larger at the mouth of Narragansett Bay postpone until the 24th. A postponement notice will be posted on the ConnYak bulletin board Friday night if needed.
