Sandy Noyes Slideshow Presentation

Essex Library, Essex, CT
Saturday, Feb 2, 2008
10:00 am - 1:00 pm

CONNYAK member Sandy Noyes photographed competition events at the Greenland National Kayak Championships last summer in Ilulissat, and he also documented the landscape around the exotic and beautiful town 300 miles above the Arctic Circle.

Included are images of the Ilulissat Icefiord. The fiord and its glacier have been under study for years by glaciologists as an indicator of fast climate change.

Images include all of those in the 2008 calendar just published by SEND THEM TO GREENLAND [Turner and Cheri are Directors].

The slideshow includes running commentary by the photographer.

The following photo and caption were taken from a posting on Flickr, by user Zinnie.

Iceberg, near Ilulissat

Ilulissat is located at 69°13'N, 51°06'W and about 200 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle. In translation Ilulissat is the Greenlandic word for "The Icebergs".
